DESCRIPTION: Built in 1897 by Garret E. Brownback, this beautiful salmon-stoned, 22-room Victorian mansion is a pleasant surprise to many visiting the small village of Linfield, PA, located approximately 45 minutes northwest of Philadelphia. Skilled master craftsmen from Italy, England, and the United States were used to construct this 10,000-square-foot mansion, situated on more than 2 acres of beautifully manicured gardens and lawn.

The mansion, which operates as a Bed & Breakfast, has 4 bedrooms and 3 suites, all with private baths and each decorated in vintage Victorian style. Each room now has a private telephone and television to make your stay even more comfortable.

Upon entering the marble and alabaster foyer, one immediately notices the main hall and three-story chestnut staircase. The Dining Room features oak paneling, built-in buffet, window seat and tile fireplace -- all accentuated by a crystal chandelier and stained glass windows. Leaving the Dining Room, parquet floors lead you through pocket doors to the Library, Sitting Room and Parlor, each an outstanding example of true pride in one's craft -- the wood carvings are truly magnificent!

On the second floor, each spacious bedroom exemplifies the splendor of the era. The bird's eye maple room with an attached dressing room has a sitting area and makes use of the original spacious bath. Tiger maple is used in a room with a beautiful bay window area. The master bedroom in cherry is decorated with antique silver purses and beautiful crystal perfume bottles. Rich walnut enhances a room with a king sized bed.

All rooms contain beautifully carved, built-in armoires and marble sinks in the Victorian Lifestyle. The mantels as well as the many stained glass windows highlight the true meaning of "Shearer Elegance."

Continuing up to the third floor, a newly designed suite awaits. With king-sized bed, separate sitting room, two private balconies, and state-of-the art bath with Jacuzzi, this is luxury. There are also two additional bedrooms on the third floor, each with private bath, and beautifully appointed furnishings. All of the rooms invite a quiet haven for business guests, romantic getaways and special occasions

Within a 45 minute drive are Center City Philadelphia, Philadelphia International Airport and Lancaster Amish Country; 30 minutes to Reading Outlet Stores; 20 minutes to Valley Forge National Park and King of Prussia Court & Plaza; 10 minutes to Ursinus College and The Hill School. Convenient day trips to the Atlantic City Casinos, New Jersey Beaches, Camden Aquarium, New Hope and Peddlers Village can easily be made.
